№ 02 · Tough, grainy, forgiving

Kenia
leather.

Kenia is full-nappa leather with a clear, tactile grain. A touch cleaner in appearance than Africa, but equally full of character, and certainly as sturdy to the sit. We like Kenia for lounge sofas, where the thicker hide builds a piece you can truly sink into.

For families with young children or pets, Kenia is usually the calmer choice than full-grain aniline. Stains sink less deeply, small scratches blend back into the surface. Not because Kenia is indestructible, but because the nappa finish is simply more forgiving.

№ 01 · Character

Why people choose Kenia

a

Full-nappa, closed finish

Nappa is tanned from the softest part of the hide, with a gently closed surface. Kenia is nappa with visible grain: the advantages of a full hide, with a surface that tolerates damp cloths and small accidents better than pure aniline.

b

Visible grain

The grain pattern is kept on purpose, not sanded away. That gives Kenia the feel of a hide you want to touch, not the plastic softness of some industrial nappa finishes.

c

Sturdy seat

Kenia leather sofas sit heavy and deep. Perfect for anyone who lies on the sofa, reads, watches long series. Less suitable if you want a light, tight-lined silhouette.

№ 03 · Care

Care for Kenia leather

Of our Italian leathers, Kenia is the most forgiving. What it needs:

Weekly
Dry dusting. A soft brush helps if dust sits inside the grain.
Twice a year
Work in a nappa leather balm. Kenia needs less frequent care than Africa or Rancho.
On stains
Dab straight away with a lightly damp cloth. Greasy marks clear better from Kenia than from full-grain aniline.
Heat sources
Avoid direct contact with stoves and underfloor heating placed right beneath the sofa.
№ 04 · Who it suits

Who Kenia suits

+ Good fit

Families with children, households with non-scratching dogs, lovers of lounge-style sitting, modern or industrial interiors.

! Less suited

Fans of pure, patinated full-grain aniline will prefer Africa. Anyone looking for a tight, covered surface with little texture is better off with Foggia or Granada.
